Colorado Natural Gas Offers Tips for Customers to Stay Warm and Save Energy

12/20/2022

Centennial, Colorado (December 20, 2022)— With freezing temperatures upon us, Colorado Natural Gas (CNG) is committed to keeping its customers safe and warm. Over the next few days, “artic blasts” across the country will bring some of the coldest weather in decades to millions of Americans.

CNG provides some simple steps to stay warm and save energy, including:

  • Keep your thermostat a few degrees lower than normal (as long as there are no health risks), and lower if you are away from home for more than a few hours.
  • When increasing the temperature in your home, avoid turning your thermostat up too high.
  • Clear space around your registers so warm air can flow freely.
  • Close dampers on unused fireplaces and keep garage doors closed to prevent warm air from escaping and insulate around windows and doors to prevent air leaks and keep warm air inside.
  • Soak up the sun by opening curtains on your south-facing windows during the day to let the sunlight help heat your home. Then, close them at night to reduce incoming cold air from drafty windows.

These small steps can help conserve energy, keep you comfortable, and can aid in saving money during the winter months. Learn more at: https://coloradonaturalgas.com/readyforwinter

In addition to these tips, there are payment and energy assistance programs offered in Colorado, as well as by CNG, to support customers and reduce energy costs.

If customers are having trouble paying their bills, CNG will work with them to set up a payment plan and help find possible energy assistance options.
